Mobile Phones In India
Can you tell the difference between ‘a want’ and ‘a need’? ‘A want’ is for a product which people desire to have but may or may not get. ‘A need’ is for a product which is essential for an individual. In today’s affluent times for most of us ‘wants’ have now moved to ‘needs’. Mobile phones are one such thing which has undergone a similar paradigm shift.
Mobile phones are not phones that move by themselves but phones that move with people. There were times when mobile phones were a status symbol and were owned only by the elite. But now they have become a necessity.
Mobile phones in India came much later as compared to the globe across. But now they seem to have invaded the Indian market. Initially we only had mobile phones with GSM technology but a giant company like Reliance launched the first ever CDMA technology in the mobile phone sector. This definitely brought about more competition in the industry and GSM service providers had to come up with even more attractive offers to ensure that the customers did not switch over to the CDMA world. India’s population has at least for this industry proven to be a great advantage because it has given business to both the technologies.
Companies have come up with models in different price ranges to cater to different segments of the society. Apart from models of different ranges, the service providers also offer a varied range of customized plans suiting the budget and needs of all the users.
Like any other gadget even mobile phones have their hazards. Since they emit electro-magnetic radiations they can affect the rhythmic heartbeat if they are placed in the front pocket next to the chest. The neurons of the ear get affected when these phones are held close to the ear. This can lead to deafness and can also initiate migraine attacks for some. The radiations are also known to affect the feotus in pregnancy. Research has confirmed that excessive usage of mobile phones can also cause cancer. Usage of mobile phones while driving is known to have increased the number of road accidents because the concentration that is required for driving is diverted to the call.
Apart from health hazards, it has also made people anti social due to the long conversations that they end up having on their mobile phones and it has made brain cells lazy as people now depend more on the phone memory.
So girls and guys be in touch with the latest in technology but don’t replace your brains with anything in the world.
