Nepali Songs
Nepal is a land of eternal beauty and attraction and colorful cultures, ancient history and people. Culture in Nepal comprises of music, architecture, religion and literature, and you can find all forms of music like pop, rock, folk, devotional and also film songs here.
Folk music plays an important role in Nepali culture and is a major part of weddings, festivals and extra-curriculum school activities. Some of the main forms of Nepali music are the Newar and the Khas music. Newar Music is a traditional music developed in Nepal by the tribes named Newars. It mainly consists of percussion (thumping) instruments, some wind instruments and no string instruments. Khas music belongs to the Khas society where castes like Damai used to play a number of instruments on occasions such as marriages, birth and other feasts. This tradition is now on the decline owing to the growing popularity of television, radio and other means of mass communication. Other forms of traditional music are Deuda, Sherpa, Maithili, Kirant Music etc.
Devotional songs are an important part of the day to day lives of people in the country.Nepali songs is proud to present some of the devotional songs, which are considered to be the music of the soul. It has been the introductory form of music for legendary singers like- Narayan Gopal, Gopal Yonjan, Prem Dhoj Pradhan Shiv Shanker, Narayan Gopal, Meera Rana etc.
The film Music was introduced to Nepal from India and is considered as imported music. The first film to be produced under a private banner was Maitighar and it had many Indians contributing towards the making of the film .Mala Sinha, Sunil Dutt and comedian Rajendra Nath were the actors and music were composed by Jaidev, a veteran music maestro, it had all the established Indian singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Usha Mangeshkar, and Manna Dey, doing the playback-singing along with the household names of Nepali music, like, C P Lohani, and Aruna Lama etc. Bollywood songs are very popular among the Nepalis and now, you can download a range of Nepali songs from online music resources.
