Walking sessions for a minimum period of thirty to sixty minutes a day, five days a week, with the correct walking posture, diminishes health risks and has various overall health benefits such as reducing the chances of cancer, heart disease, anxiety and depression. In fact, most walkers use music to help set their speed, which is why understanding the beats per minute (BPM) of a song can be beneficial. Most walkers will want to choose music with a BPM between 100 to 140 BPM. A stroll walker going about 3 miles an hour (mph) should pick music that is between 115 to 120 BPM. Power walkers going about 4.5 mph should pick music that is between 135 and 140 BPM.
